Time to break out the sunglasses and turn it up to eleven! Channel the vivacity of spring with the season’s most exciting cornea-burning brights in neon , day glo , fluorescents and tropical preppy flash. This hot trend has definitely rounded a corner since the eighties. Etsy sellers are showing us updated, fresh takes with these zesty colors in tasteful new ways. The items in this Etsy Finds are so radioactive, they’re sure to jump-start...

I’ve always relished flipping through decor magazines, wedding design blogs, and Etsy’s Weddings Category, making mental notes with my inner wedding planner for my own imaginary big day. Even when that wedding fever isn’t burning as strong, I love looking at all the creative new takes and tiny clever details offered on Etsy to pull off a tailored event from start …  Read More →

The internationally-renowned dog show Crufts — judging on appearance, agility and even doggy dancing — is on this week in Birmingham. In light of some controversy surrounding its screening on the BBC due to the questioning of certain breeders’ ethics, I’ve invited Kerry Wilkinson of pennydogaccessories to tell us about an organisation called the Retired Greyhound Trust (RGT). Adopting Penny, our first greyhound, coincided...

After coming across one of Lightexture ’s incredible lighting animations I decided to find out a little more about the duo behind these luminous wonders. I asked Yael Ere and Avner Ben Natan to tell me a bit about themselves, their Lightexture collaboration and their dazzling illumination. Here’s what they had to say… Tell us a bit about yourselves. Avner: I was born in Israel…  Read More →

Every day, our community grows in unexpected and delightful ways. For our Fresh Shops series, sellers who have been on Etsy for a mere handful of months or are awaiting their first sale introduce themselves. I stumbled upon anthonyroberto ’s shop using Pounce Undiscovered ; here’s a warm welcome to all our newbies! My name is Anthony Roberto. Currently I am a student attending the Pacific Northwest College of Art in Portland, Oregon....

Karina of KreatedbyKarina has always known she wanted to be her own boss. After moving to the U.S. from Canada she began working a regular day job in customer service while beginning her Etsy business at the same time. Once Karina became pregnant she placed a greater focus on her soapmaking and made a long term business plan with her husband in order to stay at home with their daughter. Since leaving her day job, she’s successfully paying...

This weekend’s Get the Look: Decor is inspired by the colorful Nashville, Tennessee “retro-renovation” of Carolyn and David. Their 1940s Tudor home contains a perfect mix of thrift and handmade collected during the couple’s trips to early morning estate sales and weekend rummaging through thrift shops and flea markets. The walls are painted in neutral shades in order to draw attention to their colorful treasures and home-sewn...

Do discarded objects and second-hand parts get your dumpster-diving heart’s gears turning? Revitalize and repurpose that forlorn toaster, mangled foot bath and too-loved blazer with tools and a little tender care. That broken blender can be reborn as an illuminatory kitchen aid: repurposing knows no bounds! Imagine the possibilities with these Etsy Finds of renewal. To shop for more repurposed items, see search terms such as upcycled ,...

Sawyer Trice lives in Washington, DC where he studies art history and American studies. His interest in and understanding of art and its history was first shaped by his passionate professors within the Art History Department at George Mason University. He spends his time traveling, hoping to find a place to call home. Alberto Giacometti’s 1961 cast sculpture L’Homme qui marche I , depicting a frail man mid-stride, sold at Sotheby’s...

I didn’t start drinking wine until my mid-twenties, and at that point I tended to focus on the boxed variety. I eventually graduated to bottles, learning to tell the difference between a nice Bourdeaux and a bottle of Boone’s Farm. This weekend I’m heading out to the San Francisco Bay Area for a long vacation through the Napa and Sonoma valleys with at least a dozen vineyards on my agenda. Today’s Etsy Finds features...

I’ve long been a fan of chrisparry ’s craftsmanship so it’s a real treat to gain insight into his techniques and daily life. I find the more avant-garde of his designs (such as his Nail Varnish Ring ) deeply fascinating. What a pro — he’s the kind of designer/maker I’m sure many of us would like to be when we grow up. In fact, you might even call him a Diamond Geezer (sorry). Tell us a wee bit about yourself....

As New York’s last Bryant Park Fashion Week (making the controversial move uptown to Lincoln Center next year) came to a close recently, I was eager to see what designers were envisioning for Fall 2010. It’s still far off, but I’m always curious to see which trends these high-end designers deem “new,” knowing that Etsians are already offering their own fresh and street-ready interpretations. Hoods I love hoods,...
