Fantastic design for a low-tech, zoomable paper map
I love this idea: Map2, “The zoomable map on paper,” uses nothing but folding and carefully-considered printing to achieve its killer app. The map is divided into four quadrants, and you simply grab whichever quadrant you’d like to see more of and pull it outwards, unfolding a zoomed-in view of that area. As useful as having...

Sprint Hacks Together 4G iPad, Kinda
Plucky Sprint has figured out a way to get in on the iPad action. The carrier is offering a free iPad case with a pocket for its 4G cellular Wi-Fi router, allowing you to use a basic Wi-Fi iPad and still enjoy an always-on internet connection. Sprint’s Overdrive modem is like a 4G MiFi, taking a fast cellular data connection and sharing...

Guest Curator: Paper Magazine's Alexis Swerdloff
Alexis Swerdloff is the executive editor of PAPER magazine and PAPERMAG.com . She lives in Brooklyn. For my job at PAPER I spend a lot of time “curating” people — finding up-and-coming actors, musicians, designers, artists, and writers to feature in the magazine (like the Etsy crew, who I wrote about back in 2007 !). It is rare...

Pump Up Your Bike Lights
Pump Up Your Bike Lights
Look! No, not at those hideous, atrophied monstrosities pretending to be handlebars. Look instead at that mini pump, the PUYL, which contains copper coil, a battery and an LED light. When you pump your tires, you charge the battery. It also solves the problem of where you should put your pump — in a pocket or hidden somewhere down near the...
