House in the Andes by Juan Carlos Doblado

January 22nd, 2010 admin

This “Casa en los Andes” feels like sitting in a piece of furniture with a beautiful view of the mountains. The picture perfect minimalistic design blends into the earth and doesn’t try to compete with the amazing surroundings. The interior features my favorite color combo: raw concrete and burnt orange. Lots and lots of light pours in creating a crisp ambiance. ©2010 Design Milk | Posted by Joel in Architecture | Permalink | No comments | Tweet This | Share on Facebook

This home in Japan by a.un Architects offers an extensive use of wood both externally and internally. With incredible views of the sea and pristine interiors, the home reflects the owners’ desire to stay away from the more typical concrete and glass formula, creating this very warm and cozy atmosphere. Hill House by 123DV Architecture
Remember last week we featured 123DV Architecture’s beautiful Dali-inspired home ? Well, The Hill House is another gem by 123DV Architecture that has has quite a bit going for it: Funky looking fireplace: check. Large expanses of glass: check. Floating stairs: check. Cantilever second-story design: check. Totally awesome: check. This home...
Ceramic House by García & Ruiz Architects
Ceramic House by García & Ruiz Architects
The Ceramic House by García & Ruiz is located in Spain. It’s a converted attic space belonging to an old building. There’s a lot of space flexibility — spaces intercept each other, creating and merging into another dimension. The muted palette helps to make the illusion of a bigger space. The only problem that I see is...
Rodríguez Harvey House by Nicolás Loi Architects
Rodríguez Harvey House by Nicolás Loi Architects
When Nicolás Loi created this home, he placed the right elements in the right place. The support columns underneath makes the whole structure float in this rural environment. The wrap around deck invites guest to experience the outdoor that can even be seen from the inside due to the — never excessive — use of glass. Dark wood exterior...

Shell House in Japan by Far East Design Lab
Love this house by Far East Design Lab . I especially like the corrugated ceiling and odd shape. Located in Hiratsuka City, the steel structured is a little over 1200 square feet on one story. House with Oceanic Views by Kidosaki Architects
House with Oceanic Views by Kidosaki Architects
With the intensive use of concrete and glass as well as building plans that closely relate to the topography of the land, this project became a success for the client and the architect. Definitely a nice use of concrete for a more industrial look. That amazing lawn has got to be fake! http://www.kidosaki.com ©2009 Design Milk | Posted by Joel...
Moliner House in Spain by Alberto Campo Baeza Architects
Moliner House in Spain by Alberto Campo Baeza Architects
A house for a poet in Zaragoza, Spain, a house built to dream, read and think…that is what Alberto Campo Baeza Architects say about this home. The garden is enclosed by concrete walls, an antiseptic interior that ventures into the outdoors blurring the line between the two. Light from the north pours through the glazed walls in the interior...
Water-Cooled House in Singapore by Wallflower Architecture
Water-Cooled House in Singapore by Wallflower Architecture
Wallflower Architecture produced another great home. This one is located at Ewart Park in Singapore and makes the use of a reflection pool as its means of cooling during the hot summer days. Once you get to the second story via a nicely integrated spiral stair you will be surrounded by water. It’s like being on a boat house that doesn’t...
B House in Italy by Damilano Studio
B House in Italy by Damilano Studio
This is a house that was built for entertainment. Look at the pool side, the deck, the big opening glass on the living room…even the floor is porcelain for easy care. The great floor plan and stainless steel kitchen get my stamp of approval. Photos by Andrea Martiradonna. http://www.damilanostudio.com ©2010 Design Milk | Posted by Joel...

Suurupi House Extension by Arhitektid Muru & Pere
My house has an extension, but it’s nothing like this box extension designed by Arhitektid Muru & Pere . The box is covered with crisscrossed sticks, making it look like a highly-structured rectangular, modern and stylish bird’s nest that even glows in the dark.
