Owners of the new iPhone 3GS can now jailbreak the latest iPhone operating system (3.1) thanks to the hardworking hackers known as Dev Team. One caveat: If you didn’t jailbreak the iPhone when it was running iPhone OS 3.0 or iPhone OS 3.0.1, you can’t directly jailbreak iPhone OS 3.1. Confusing with all the numbers, isn’t it?...
Stacks is a piece of software for the iPhone which adds spring loaded “stacks” of applications to any or all of the four coveted dock positions on your home screen. We first mentioned it back in the summer but now, despite still being in an alpha state, it is available (sort of) and ready to use. If you have a jailbroken iPhone. There...
Let’s face it: The iPhone’s camera kind of stinks. And if you suck at photography, it really makes it obvious. Fortunately, there’s a host of iPhone apps out there to beautify your shots. The ones I like most maintain the iPhone’s principle of keeping things simple. In this episode of the Gadget Lab video podcast, I demonstrate...

This external iPhone battery is something of a conundrum. Called the Icon, it is designed to look just like the iPhone battery-charging icon, and it comes covered with electro-luminescent film to make it glow like its virtual counterpart (the animated GIF is presented below in all its flashing, oversized, layout-breaking glory). The confusion...
