House with Oceanic Views by Kidosaki Architects

December 11th, 2009 admin

With the intensive use of concrete and glass as well as building plans that closely relate to the topography of the land, this project became a success for the client and the architect. Definitely a nice use of concrete for a more industrial look. That amazing lawn has got to be fake! http://www.kidosaki.com ©2009 Design Milk | Posted by Joel in Architecture | Permalink | No comments

This is a great Japanese house that has a mid century twist. The concrete finish blends really well with the opaque glass to create an intriguing image of what’s behind. Dark grays plus the golden color front door makes this residence stand apart from the rest but at the same time brings calm with the typical Japanese clean interior. http://www.kidosaki.com...

House in Japan by a.un Architects
This home in Japan by a.un Architects offers an extensive use of wood both externally and internally. With incredible views of the sea and pristine interiors, the home reflects the owners’ desire to stay away from the more typical concrete and glass formula, creating this very warm and cozy atmosphere. Terrace House in Japan by Chiba Manabu Architects
Using reinforced concrete, a lot of glass and extruded aluminum rails for the windows, this home features a basement and three stories. With the backyard is based on the first floor, you can access the top of it from the second floor living area. Since this a Japanese home, you will have the sense of high-end craftsmanship with the amount of wood...

S-House in Australia by Architects EAT
The S-House by Architects EAT is nestled on the hills of Templestowe in Australia and features beautiful views of Mount Dandenong. This home was designed purely for entertainment with many split levels and a continuous open space that provides some privacy and places for retreat. Love the contrast between the geometric shapes of the house and...

House in the Andes by Juan Carlos Doblado
This “Casa en los Andes” feels like sitting in a piece of furniture with a beautiful view of the mountains. The picture perfect minimalistic design blends into the earth and doesn’t try to compete with the amazing surroundings. The interior features my favorite color combo: raw concrete and burnt orange. Lots and lots of light...
Ceramic House by García & Ruiz Architects
Ceramic House by García & Ruiz Architects
The Ceramic House by García & Ruiz is located in Spain. It’s a converted attic space belonging to an old building. There’s a lot of space flexibility — spaces intercept each other, creating and merging into another dimension. The muted palette helps to make the illusion of a bigger space. The only problem that I see is...
Rodríguez Harvey House by Nicolás Loi Architects
Rodríguez Harvey House by Nicolás Loi Architects
When Nicolás Loi created this home, he placed the right elements in the right place. The support columns underneath makes the whole structure float in this rural environment. The wrap around deck invites guest to experience the outdoor that can even be seen from the inside due to the — never excessive — use of glass. Dark wood exterior...
New York Town House by Alexander Gorlin Architects
New York Town House by Alexander Gorlin Architects
The firm was invited to modernize and add an additional top floor to a rare 1950’s glass-fronted, two-story family townhouse on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. A large, open living area on the first floor leads through to a kitchen overlooking the rear garden. Cantilevered stairs, flooded by daylight from a large skylight, lead to the...

Bernal Heights Residence in California by SB Architects
The Bernal Heights residence by SB Architects is located in San Francisco, CA. It is a more contemporary approach to a housing solution but manages to translate the needs of a family into a comprehensive layout. I’m a big fan of the kitchen island and the ceiling matching the floors. You can see accent colors here and there on a pretty neutral...
Haus Elise by Synn Architects
Haus Elise by Synn Architects
Haus Elise by Synn Architects is a beauty. White walls and concrete really gets my heart going! The way the home office looks from the street at night makes it look like a doll house. I can assure, though, that blinds are installed for privacy. The zebra wood-looking stairs become a design element leading upstairs. The only change I would have...
